Owen turned 1 this last weekend! Wow, time flies! He enjoyed his cupcake, but there wasn't quite the excitement I was hoping for. Owen just likes food. I could have stuck some chicken nuggets or a bowl of fruit in front of him and he would have been just as happy. Erik's family came over to help celebrate the big day and he got lots of fun presents. ~Angela
I tried a few different thing with the camera this weekend. Some of them turned out better than others. I followed a tutorial on dpchallenge to get the smoke shots. I was very pleased with how they came out. The first shot shows my set up. The black shots are basically unedited shots. I inverted the colors and messed around the hue/saturation to get the colors. It was fairly easy except Angela wasn't to excited about the smell of incense in the house.

Very cool shots Erik - I love checking out the pictures on your blog!
Erik: Hello again after several years! I just posted a comment, but realized that it was under my husband's gmail account. Anyway, we were at Ricks together in 1997. Celeste sent me your blog link and it's been fun to see all that you are up to. You have a beautiful family and I love your photography! Quick note, We are good friends with an old mission friend of yours- Donovan Hansen. I'll pass your blog link along to him. -Kelley
the 2nd to last water droplet is my fav. Love all the smoke ones, the different colors are awesome!
Hey bro, sweet shots! I wish I had a snazzy camera to take cool pictures like you... unfortunately i dont think they sell cameras that fancy here in Mexico. Eveybody here loved the pictures of Owen. They think he´s the cutest little baby ever. Jenny´s mom says that you should leave your wife at home for my wedding and just bring Owen instead. hahaha just kidding Angela! Thanks for the title for our web page. Jenny says your last water drop could be better if the drop landed right in the middle. THEN it would have been an excellent picture because the colors, the shadows, the glass, all look good but the drop wasnt in the middle. I really liked all the shots.
Now I'm thirsty.... and need a smoke! Man that camera of yours ROCKS!
Little Owen is such a darling...can't believe he's a year now - our Christopher is right behind tho.
I never realized smoke could have that kind of a curly pattern like some of your shots show. I love the colors you ended up using. Thanks for sharing.
And Owen is so, so cute! I love the frosting face.
Happy Birthday Owen!!! We wish we could have been there to celebrate! You and Hayden are exactly 6 months apart so that means next time you visit, we will have to set up a play date! Yeah!
