Jackolof Bay Post 4....

I promise that these posts will end. I just wanted to tell a story and give a bit of an insight to our life here in Alaska. It is a pretty fun place to live that is a bit different than the rest of the world. Some of which is due to the geography and some is due to the weird people who willingly live in the arctic. I haven't talked much about the crab pot, mostly because I am a bit embarrassed. The first 2 sets we didn't get any crab which was a bummer. We let the pot soak for 20 hours the last set. We were pulling the pot right before we headed home when it happened. I wish I had some story about how gypsy pirates stole our crab pot at gun point. No instead, I got the line balled up in the capstan head where the line was spliced. It was due to me being lazy and stupid. The line broke and away went the pot. There is a picture of a crab ring that we gave a try. We didn't get any crab, but we did catch a few starfish. The kids really liked the stuff we pulled up from the ocean floor. The last picture is of the family on the way home. Don't worry there is a story when we got home... Stay posted.
Jackolof posts are as follows Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4

I love your story of adventure at Jackolof Bay. What a beautiful part of the country you live in. I appreciate your love of nature and instilling that in your children. They always look like they are having so much fun. You are a little more adventureous than I would ever be. California is the place for me!!! Although with the way California is going....It might be tempting. Thank you for sharing...I look forward to your postings. Love to you all. Aunt Diane
